With the popular acceptance of USB and IEEE1394, the PC architecture went into a huge transformation with easy-to-use PnP capabilities, legacy-free ports, and easy integration of system chips.

When Prolific was founded in 1997, the Company has foreseen that USB/IEEE1394 would be the standard I/O interface for the new generation PC and peripherals. Since then, the Company strived for research and development of high performance USB/IEEE1394 transmission standards that identified the Company in the market as a Total USB Solution provider. Up to now, the Company has launched several world market leading USB bridge controllers in three categories: Device Controller, Storage Device, and Data Communications.
